Undergraduate Nursing Framework

An important strategy in improving the mental health and wellbeing of all Australians is to ensure that all nurses who graduate as beginning practitioners from Australian Schools of Nursing and Midwifery have received appropriate education and training, and developed competency in the nursing care of people with mental health issues – regardless of the clinical specialty they choose to work in.

In 2018 the ACMHN undertook a project to develop a National Framework for mental health content in pre-registration (undergraduate) nursing programs, which included a literature review and a survey of key stakeholders.
